A new cream is launched every day. How do you know that there is one that suits your skin? Not every cream is suitable for every skin type. With these tricks, you always choose the best!
1) View the Ingredients of the Cream
Nowadays, there is more control over (possibly) harmful ingredients. Examples include petroleum derivatives, alcohol, foaming substances (soap, sulfates, emulsifiers), and preservatives such as parabens.
It is also essential that the right ingredients are in the right proportion. The best ingredients for day creams include peptides, vitamins (A, B3, C and E) and glycerine. So, always check whether these are high in the list on the packaging.
2) Choose Your Day Cream
Before choosing a cream, it is helpful to know your skin type. Do you have dry, oily, or very sensitive skin? Base your search on these criteria.
3) Day Creams for Sensitive Skin
Sensitive skin reacts strongly to internal and external influences, such as red spots, rashes, and itching. Products that state that they are specially intended for sensitive skin are preferred. A gentle approach with mild, perfume-free effects is vital.
4) Day Creams for Dry Skin
After showering, does your skin feel tight, and do you sometimes suffer from flakes? Chances are you have dry skin. You suffer less from pimples because your skin produces less fat, but unfortunately, that also means that your skin is less supple, feels rough, and suffers from lines. Go for a day cream with moisturizing ingredients, such as hyaluronic acid.
5) Day Creams for Oily Skin
Oily skin has a high sebum production, making the skin glow quickly. The chance of impurities such as blackheads and pimples is high. Oil-based creams and make-up don’t ‘stick’ very well; an oil-free – but moisturizing – cream is recommended. Look for a day cream with salicylic acid and niacinamide; these ensure that dead skin cells are removed and that the sebum production is regulated.
6) Day Creams for Normal Skin
You can take care of normal skin with a daily day cream that protects against moisture loss and harmful UV radiation. For example, choose a day cream with SPF 15. Normal skin has visible, but no dilated pores, feels soft, and has a good moisture/fat balance.
Mistakes to Avoid When Choosing/ Applying Day Creams
Using Day Creams Past Their Expiry Date
All cosmetics also have an expiration date and can therefore spoil. After the expiration date, the active ingredients are lost and your skin can even become irritated. So, do not use products that have been standing for too long.
No Hygiene
Being unsanitary with your daycare products can also lead to skin irritations. Therefore, always close your creams well and clean your brushes regularly. It also doesn’t hurt to buy a new skincare bag now and then. It’s always fun to be with your friends, but try not to share your skincare products. Bacteria can spread very quickly and can give you an infected eye, for example.
And of course…
Your skin is an important – even the largest – organ you have, which needs plenty of exercise and sleep. It is good for your skin when you use a cream with the right ingredients, but it is just as important to take good care of your skin from the inside out. Your lifestyle, what you eat, and what you drink play a significant role. All these factors contribute to radiant, beautiful skin.
Natural Skin Care Products
We agree. Pure ingredients from nature are suitable for most skin. But if you have sensitive skin, some natural ingredients can actually irritate your skin. So, don’t automatically assume that you should always go for organic skincare products.
