Do you have acne, fine lines, dry or sensitive skin? Did you know that Manuka Honey is not only delicious on bread, but can also be used for facial care? What’s more, you can easily make your own Manuka Honey facial care!

Nature is full of surprises. Manuka honey is a good example. This golden stuff contains antioxidants, has antibacterial properties, and is said to affect certain skin diseases positively. While this is true to some extent for many types of honey, Manuka honey contains additional ingredients that make this type of honey exceptional.

For example, Manuka honey contains a unique active ingredient, methylglyoxal (MGO). MGO is what makes Manuka honey unique; the higher the MGO, the stronger the unique properties of this honey. In addition, Manuka honey is incredibly versatile. While it is delicious and soothing when spread on bread or added to smoothies, Manuka honey is also becoming increasingly popular as an ingredient in skin masks, scrubs, lip balms, and other care products. You can even make your own Manuka Honey facial care products with just a few ingredients!

1) Masks for Removing Impurities

Indigenous people have long used manuka honey for various skin conditions and other ailments. However, Manuka honey is also becoming popular in facial care products such as masks.

Apply a thin, even layer of Manuka honey to sensitive or blemished skin and leave for 30 minutes before rinsing off the honey mask.
Honey is a natural moisturizer, so you can expect your skin to stay hydrated. The result? Soft, glowing skin.

2) Soothing Mask

Masks made with honey and oats are a great way to pamper yourself. Oats are said to help with rough, itchy skin. Oats mixed with honey are great for soothing sensitive skin. And the best part? The ingredients for this mask can probably be found in your kitchen.

How to do it:

  • Mix 30 g of oatmeal in 125 ml of warm water, soak for a few minutes and let it cool.
  • Add 2 tablespoons of yogurt, 2 tablespoons of manuka honey, and the white of a small egg.
  • Mix all together well and apply a thin layer over the face, leaving it on for 15 minutes, then remove the mask from the face.
  • Rinse the face with lukewarm water and pat dry.

3) Exfoliating Mask

Only two ingredients, manuka honey and salt or sugar are needed to make this delicious exfoliating mask. Honey is sticky, so the scrub particles (salt or sugar) stick well to the face. This way, you can make an eco-friendly Manuka scrub mask in no time.

Take some salt or sugar and mix it with a few tablespoons of Manuka honey. Rub it all over your face, but avoid sensitive skin around the eyes, and be careful around the nose and other areas where dead skin cells tend to accumulate. Leave it on for about 30 minutes to exfoliate and mask in one go. Then rinse face.

4) Anti-Aging Mask

Another feature of manuka honey is its ability to diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This DIY face mask also contains eggs, which contain collagen and protein, so it’s perfect for beauty and on your plate. Manuka honey moisturizes the face, while the eggs improve skin elasticity.

Crack the egg and leave out the yolk. All you need for this mask is the whites. Add a tablespoon of manuka honey to the egg white and mix well. Apply the mask to the face, but keep it away from the mouth, nose, and eyes. When the mask is dry, gently remove it from the face. Rinse off any residue with warm water and dry the face.
